Lucky bug for the New Year

Painted red with black dots, ladybugs are considered lucky charms in many cultures. According to their name, they are considered a direct messenger of the Mother of God. In fact, they are useful pest controllers and have probably saved a harvest or two. Last year I sewed this beautiful ladybug pillow.

I wonder what the beetle on my pillow is called? After all, ladybugs have many different regional names. Mother God beetle, Lord God beetle, Mother God child, little sky beetle, little lucky beetle, sun beetle, little sky beetle, little gold beetle, little sleet beetle, little moth beetle and little flimsy beetle are just a few of a multitude of other names.

Anyway, with this lucky beetle I wish us an ounce of luck for the New Year 2022 and health on every new day.
